Throughout the ages

shingle and storm have shaped

the coast where we stand.

Communities have waxed and waned,

have flourished, have perished;

events have changed the shoreline,

the seascape and landscape;

chance has struck and changed the people.

Yet, as the power of the ocean,

of the elements, remains constant,

the power of the human spirit,

the indomitable will to survive,

remains undimmed.
