In addition to our usual Sussex Wildlife Trust calendar, this year we have also created a special calendar celebrating the wildlife of Rye Harbour Nature Reserve

We meet new Centre Manager of the Rye Harbour Discovery Centre, Gesine Garz.

The exciting news is that this week staff from CABI released some tiny mites into a small area of Australian Swampweed at Rye Harbour Nature Reserve.

Bird highlight during July was a Purple Heron which was found at the northern end of Castle Water (before moving to Long Pit) on the 28th.

Sussex Wildlife Trust volunteers and Friends members Morgan and Peter Greenhalf have been involved in identifying and recording bumblebees for over a decade. They now lead Bumblebees Identification days and ‘bee-safari’ walks.

Rye Harbour Discovery Centre has won the Public & Community Award at the Sussex Heritage Awards 2022.
